January 31st, 2012; Amazing that there is still info we can't access

I had no idea the NFL wouldn't release the video of games shot from a high angle. It's amazing that in this day and age, there is something we cannot get our hands on.

January 30th, 2012; Almost too rich.

This is so awesome. How does this happen?

January 30th, 2012; New faces for next year

I really suck at doing this blog thing.. Either way, SI graded out all the NFL coaching hires for this season and with seven new faces, this will kind of give you a taste for the new head guys.

January 25th, 2012: A man, once rich, now seemingly depressed and alone.

And I don't really feel for him. It's kind of amazing to be such a polarizing figure like Terrell Owens and still not be able to come out and apologize for being a giant prick his whole prick.

January 24th, 2012: I think the real issue is;

What % of these guys wont actually do anything but disappoint?

January 23, 2012: The fastest quarter of a basketball season ever

Can you believe there's only 75% of the season left?

January 23, 2012: Every baseball fan has this fear

The further along we go as sports fans, it's sometimes easy to forget about those supremely talented players that just somehow couldn't put it together. Names like Kyle Davies, seemingly all of the Encarnacions, and Austin Kearns come to mind. The silver lining with these disappointing players just might be the fact that you at least got 2 or three good seasons out of them.

January 20th, 2012: I wish I had a Pony

Does anyone else get sick of this "wish list" crap? You know what I wish? I wish I made millions of dollars playing basketball.

January 19th, 2012; a Damn shame

It would be a real shame if he loses this appeal. Bad for baseball, bad for this era.

January 18th, 2012; Big offense, crap defense

So I am going to post articles from Joe Posnanski all the time because he is just about as close to me when it comes to sports as possible.

This season in the NFL was unlike any other. Passing offense was at a level that we've never seen before, but crappy defenses are coming to bite those big passing offenses in the ass.

January 17th, 2012: Two for today

Considering that I can't even keep up every day with just one 100 word post a day, I will do two today to make up for yesterday.

1. Some people wonder how Nick Saban does it at Alabama. 'Bama was as moribund as a storied program can get 10 years ago and now Alabama has played in 3 of the last 4 national championships. Nick Saban might be the greatest coach in college football today, and before it's all said and done, he might be as well regarded as the Bear in Tuscaloosa. Being a great coach, though, doesn't excuse you for actions such as this.

2. It's just amazing how some people cannot keep their word. College football today is just filled with such underhandedness it is unbelievable. The deceit doesn't stop with the coaches and administrators though. It goes down to the players as well.

January 15th, 2012; Legacy Tarnished

It's amazing how someone can go from respected to tarnished so quickly. This news story is still so shocking.

January 13th, 2012; Baseball Statistics are wonderful

This is the first time I've thought about posting from Joe Posnanski, but he is a fantastic blogger from Sports Illustrated. He is in love with baseball and this is a wonderful example of his skill in writing about baseball and its history.

January 11th, 2012; Was MJ really "cut" from his high school team?

We've all heard the story about Michael Jordan getting cut from his high school basketball team. This story puts the ridiculous tale in a little bit of perspective and gives some insight into how imperfect of a person Michael Jordan actually was.

January 10th, 2012: Barry Larkin gets is due

The major league hall of fame is such an interesting place. For those who have visited Cooperstown; you can attest to the majesty and aura that exists in those halls. Baseball is a special game and Barry Larkin was a special player who fully deserves this honor.

January 9th, 2012, National Championship Night

It's finally here. Five weeks since LSU played and six since Alabama played the Iron Bowl, they will play in the NCG tonight. Clay Travis wants you to celebrate correctly with the NCG drinking game.

January 8th, 2012; Racism? Really?

It's kind of unbelieveable that racism still exists.

January 7th, 2012; It's not every day that a franchise gets its first playoff victory

There was something special about today's Texans-Bengals game, and that something was the fact that one of these two perennial losers was going to win a playoff game.

In what had to be one of the least intriguing and hype worthy matchups in a long time; the Texans coasted to a 31-10 victory and gave football crazy Houston a playoff victory and a chance to knock off the overrated Ravens in Baltimore.

It doesn't hurt that T.J. Yates is from Marietta either.

January 6th, 2012

Atlanta sports fans deservedly receive a lot of crap about not showing up to games. But people down here in Atlanta do love their teams (me included) and do not deserve this pile of garbage written by Rob Parker.

Seriously? How does someone let that get published?

January 5th, 2012; Ken Rosenthal is actually funny

The Marlins have turned into a circus with newly acquired Carlos Zambrano, and Ken Rosenthal wants in.

January 4th, 2012; Sanity in college football?

Everyone knows that the BCS is a crapshoot, there is no denying that. Sometimes we forget though that BCS is not the end all be all to name the national champion. As recently as 1997 the AP national championship was just as well regarded and important as the BCS is now. In fact there are six polls that can name a national champion (AP, USA TOday Coaches poll, College football researchers association, Football Writers Association of America, National Football Foundation, and the Sporting News). Currently the USA Today Coaches poll, and the NFF are contractually obligated to award the title to the BCS champion. The AP still has (and did so in 2003) voted for a National Champion that did not play in the BCS title game.

Here's a link to a story about how AP writers may not be ready to crown 'Bama national champions if they win next monday.

January 3rd, 2012; Lame Duck Coaches

After every season in the NFL there is always at least one coach left over that has not gotten fired. It is a coach that doesn't have the right response from his team, doesn't have the respect of his peers and the fans hate him. This year that coach is Norv Turner. The Chargers have had arguably one of the top 5 most talent laden rosters in the NFL for the past 5 years and Turner has just gone 3-3 in the post season and has not even made it to the postseason since 2009.

Why is he still around? It's almost like Wade Phillips two years ago still stuck with the Cowboys.

January 2nd, 2012 The Hawks take a step

There are not many things in the sports world that can help me forget about a painful loss by UGA, but, the Hawks tried and succeeded.

The Hawks have an undeniable level of talent and this year is going to be their last opportunity to take their step to the upper echelon of the Easter Conference.

January 1st 2012, A(nother) new beginning.

Okay, so this whole blogging this is difficult for me. For the most part it is just way too difficult to find a subject interesting enough to write about, and then find a way to talk about that subject in a way that is interesting enough to read about.

The main issue is length. Why write something that is 1000 words if people only want to read 100?

So my idea is to find one sports story that is interesting enough to suggest for people to read. One story, every day.

So here's the one for today.

It is nice to see an athlete challenge themselves in such a way and for a good cause. Recently the Mets have told R.A Dickey that they don't want him to climb, and he's told them to screw themselves (basically). Great stuff. Gotta love knuckleballers.
